Colleen McGeath Walker is the Parks Coordinator for Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation. She holds a B.S. in Secondary Education from Indiana University and an M.S. in Outdoor and Environmental Education from Alaska Pacific University. Colleen started her career as a counselor and Naturalist at an overnight summer camp, then accepted a position as a 6th grade English teacher out of her undergraduate program. After a few years of classroom teaching, she decided to pivot back toward outdoor education and, following an amazing master’s program located near Anchorage, Alaska, moved back to Indiana to work in natural resources and parks and recreation.
In addition to her 9-5, Colleen is currently working toward completing her volunteer hours for her Indiana Master Naturalist and Indiana Master Gardener certifications. She also holds a Wilderness First Responder certificate from NOLS and, while she luckily does not have to use those skills too often, enjoys keeping up with relevant continuing education.
Colleen was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana and is delighted to be back in her hometown! She loves reading, doodling, gardening, baking, yoga, running, watching good TV, and spending lots of time with family and friends. She has a feisty tuxedo cat named Strawberry who, when motivated by treats, has mastered around 10 commands (including kisses! so cute!). Colleen and her husband Avery are incredibly excited to welcome their first child into the world in late September. Boy or girl, you ask? It’ll be a surprise!
