Original Farmers’ Market – July 22, 2026
The BACI (in name transition from ABAS) and the BSI Committee were incredibly fortunate
to have a beautiful and cool summer day to table at The Original Farmers’ Market on Wednesday, July 22. Traditionally this market is held on the City Market Plaza but relocated to the south half of historic Monument Circle as renovation takes place at City Market and surrounds. Our canopy tent location provided a spectacular view of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument.
We were excited to see that catty-corner to us was another not-for-profit booth, the Indianapolis Public Library. IPL branches have allowed us to post our Petition Posters for bird-safe window collision legislation in 24 of their 25 branches. Attendees were as diverse as the City of Indianapolis and included local office and government workers as well as out-of-town visitors. Huge shout-out to Craig Murphy for help with transportation as well as set-up and tear-down, and to Deb and Randy Patrick for tabling. Eagle Creek Park Ornithology Center was invaluable as they supplied the table and the Common Nighthawk taxidermy. Thank you to Hannah Bair, OFM manager, for all her help.
With like-minded goals of “sustainability, accessibility, and community engagement” this was a great market with significant traffic for us to participate in to further our BSI initiatives and BACI’s mission statement. We encourage our members to support The Original Farmers’ Market, held from 10 AM to 1:30 PM every Wednesday through September 30 of 2026, and all community farmers’ markets!

Noblesville Main Street Farmers Market – May 30, 2026
A perfect early summer day for a farmers’ market! BACI/BSI tabled on May 30 at our first Noblesville Main Street Farmers Market. The theme for the day was “Great Noblesville Duck Race” (a rubber duck race in the White River!) meshing perfectly with the origami ducks folded for giveaways to our young birding enthusiasts. This farmers’ market takes place every Saturday from 8 AM to noon through October 10 on Federal Hill Commons in downtown Noblesville.
Our own Bird Safe Indy Committee member, Jesse Greene, works for Renewal by Anderson Midwest (windows), who is this year’s sponsor. Thanks to Jesse for arranging the tabling as well as tabling on Market Day! Jesse was joined by BACI member Randy Patrick (always in his element when talking to people) and BSI Chair and BACI Board member, Deb Patrick. An excellent location in front of the stage ensured a lot of traffic for the duration, including many young families and some incredibly
knowledgeable young birders.
The Barred Owl taxidermy (thank you Eagle Creek Ornithology Center!) drew significant attention and prompted many questions. The new giveaway pamphlets (National Audubon Society) on bird seed, bird feeders, and bird feeding were popular. Perfect background music from the stage was provided by handpan musician, Eric Zhong. Please join BACI and BSI on Saturday of Labor Day weekend, September 5, when we will be back at Noblesville Farmers Market!
