SUMMARY:Fall Migration at Skiles Test Nature Park
DESCRIPTION:As temperatures cool and leaves fall in central Indiana\, riparian woodlands and forests become a vital stopover for warblers\, thrushes\, sparrows\, and other migratory species. On Saturday\, September 26 from 8:30-10:30 am\, enjoy witnessing this avian migration in motion and the beauty of autumn at Skiles Test Nature Park. This guided hike\, led by Brandon Roberts\, is perfect for birders of all levels. \nPREPARATION & ACCESS CONSIDERATIONS: Wear shoes appropriate for hiking and bring your binoculars. The main 0.8 mile trail is paved and does have an incline. There are several other trails made of loose gravel or dirt. Much of the park is shaded but be prepared for stops in the sun as well. \nLOCATION: Skiles Test Nature Park is situated off Johnson and Fall Creek Roads on the city’s northeast side. It’s an 80-acre park with a diverse landscape of forests\, ravines\, and grasslands. A small parking lot is available off Johnson Road on the south side of the park. Plan to meet at the black benches at the beginning of the asphalt trail near the parking lot. \nREGISTRATION: To sign up\, please email Laurie Voss at: laurievoss25@gmail.com at least five days before the scheduled hike. Please include your phone number in case of last-minute changes. This program is free. There is no limit to the number of participants\, and there is no priority for members. \n  \nWhat: Fall Migration Hike at Skiles Test Nature Park \nWhen: Saturday\, September 26\, 2026 from 8:30-10:30 am \nWhere: 6828 Fall Creek Rd\, Indianapolis\, IN 46220 \nRegister: laurievoss25@gmail.com
